Lourinhã and Atalaia (officially: União das Freguesias de Lourinhã and Atalaia) is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Lourinhã, with an area of 46.48 km² and 12,342

inhabitants (2021 census). Its population density is 265.5 inhabitants/km².

Tourism is an increasingly important source of revenue, extracted by the extensive beaches and, more recently, by the municipality's paleontological reserves, which include fossilized bones, footprints, eggs and even dinosaur embryos from the Jurassic period. Many of them can currently be seen at the Lourinhã Museum.

Lourinhã is one of the Portuguese wine producing municipalities, it is located in a region where the sea and the vegetation of the plains combine well.

Brandies of recognized quality have been produced in this area since the mid-20th century.

In 1992, the Demarcated Region of Quality Wine Brandy was created with

Controlled Designation of Origin "Lourinhã", the only one of its kind in Portugal and third in all of Europe, after the famous Cognac and Armagnac.
